The Esquire story began in 1955 when our current CEO and Founder, Sherwin Fischer,
opened the doors of our first office at 202 South State Street in Chicago. After
attending the University of Chicago and then dental school at the University of
Illinois, Sherwin was given the opportunity to cut his
teeth in the staffing industry at a Chicago-based private employment
agency. It was there that Sherwin uncovered his true natural talents and
entrepreneurial spirit. That experience served to be invaluable, as it became the
springboard for launching The Esquire Staffing Group.
Sherwin's vision for Esquire was to offer the most professional and
strategic staffing solutions to businesses of all types and demographics in Chicago.
Always ahead of his time, Sherwin brought the staffing industry to a new level as
Esquire become more than just a vendor-provided service-- it became a real partner to
companies and their key human resource decision makers.
Esquire began as an agency that specialized in office support, accounting and sales
staffing. Today, in our sixth decade of success, Esquire is viewed as an
industry-leading, full-service and fully integrated temporary and direct hire staffing
firm. The Esquire Temporary Division provides temporary staffing to Chicago-based or
Chicago-visiting companies in the areas of office support, office professional, events
and tradeshows. Esquire's Direct Hire Division has expanded into
multiple industries locally, nationally and internationally to include: Communications
and Marketing, Legal, Insurance, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Engineering, Social Media,
Financial-Investment Banking and Real Estate. We have branded key partnerships with
companies ranging from privately held to Fortune 500.
A pioneer in the staffing industry, Esquire is always thinking ahead and prepared to
take on the changes and challenges that affect all aspects of what we do. Even outside
of our office walls, Esquire has been a key player in improving the industry overall.
In the 1970s, Esquire partnered with lobbyists to influence change in the employment
agency process from an APF (applicant paid placement fee) to an EPF (employee paid
placement fee) market. In the 1980s, Esquire led the movement to deregulate the
industry which for many years had been monitored under the jurisdiction of the
Department of Labor. Our involvement in these initiatives combined with our fundamental
company visions and business practices keep us at the forefront of recruiting trends
and practices. Esquire's abundant history and expertise has well
prepared us for a new and evolving marketplace. Once again, we are ahead of the
game.
Since 1955, Esquire has committed to success by expanding its services and specialties
